Charleston Water System provides sewer service for more than 47,000 accounts in the City of Charleston, including West Ashley, Daniel Island, and parts of James Island.

We also treat wastewater from Folly Beach, Hollywood, Meggett, Ravenel, and the James Island Public Service District, but we do not own or operate the sewer system in these areas.

Charleston Water System operates two wastewater treatment plants: The Plum Island treatment plant, which has a permitted capacity of 36 million gallons per day (mgd), and the Daniel Island treatment plant, which is used for pre-treatment and has a permitted capacity of one million gallons per day.
