How to calculate your bill

Follow the directions below to calculate your water and sewer bill using the rate table below. 

  1. Find your pipe connection size.  Most residential customers have a ¾” service line.

  2. Determine if you live inside or outside the Charleston City limits. Use the appropriate column for the remaining steps.

  3. Now find your minimum monthly charge using your connection size and location. This is the base amount you are charged each month. 

  4. For each additional Ccf above the 2 Ccf minimum bill, you are charged $1.55 or $2.85 per Ccf, depending on where you live. This is called the monthly volume charge.  Add this amount to your minimum charge for each Ccf over the first two Ccf.  For each additional Ccf above 20, you are charged a lower rate: $1.37 or $2.41 per Ccf.

Note: Dedicated fire protection services (private fire lines that serve a fire sprinkler system) are charged a separate monthly rate.

*Wastewater charges for single family residences without an irrigation meter are based on 95% of water usage.
