Road closure: Block of Bee Street closed September 5 - 12
Posted: September 1, 2006
(September 1, 2006)--Beginning Tuesday, September 5 through Tuesday September 12, a contractor for Charleston Water System will close Bee Street between Cherry Street and the MUSC parking lot in downtown Charleston. Detour signage will be posted to direct motorists around the closure.
The closure is necessary to remove the notorious bump in the center of Bee Street caused by years of settlement around a sewer manhole. That manhole was recently taken out of service upon completion of Phase II of Charleston Water System's Sewer Tunnel Replacement Project. As part of the final restoration work for that project, crews will remove the manhole structure and level the road.
