South Carolina Safe Drinking Water Act

Fresh Water
The SC Safe Drinking Water Act provides additional regulation of groundwater and tap water quality. Under the statue, the state Department of Health and Environmental Control has the authority to enforce both state and national primary drinking water regulations. Some of these regulations include requiring permits for the construction or expansion of water treatment or distribution systems, requiring certified treatment plant operators, and monitoring of water quality through required testing.
